We are proud to present this exceptionally large and fantastic composite hind leg of a very large alpha male Woolly Mammoth from the Pleistocene era.the composite left hind limb consisits of a left femur, a left tibia/fibula and the almost complete pes (hind foot). All skeletal elements used are original with the exception of the cuneiform primum, the first metatarsal and the four terminal phalanges of the four toes, which are cast as part of the assembly shown in the picture. A minimal (approximately 1% restoration was carried out on the shaft of the tibia and fibula (see condition chart, last image).
All skeletal parts and casts used have been attributed to the Woolly Mammoth, based on their shapes and proportions. These bones are all in excellent state of preservation, with very minimal restoration. The bones of the leg have been profesionally mounted according to the latest scientific ideas, in close collaboration with leading Mammoth expert Dick Mol.
