Weight: 10000 gr / 22 lbs
Length: 38 cm / 14.9 in
Width: 32 cm / 12.6 in
Height: 30 cm / 11.8 in
Item Code: 5749
Latin Name: Mammuthus primigenius
Site: North Sea
Age: Approximately 40.000 years old
On offer is an interesting partial upper jaw of a juvenile Woolly Mammoth with a good M1 molar still locked in the jaw tissue, and also a partially surviving aviole, which contained the animals's tusk. The piece must have come from a juvenile animal, judging from the size of the molar. These intricate fossils are almost never found intact, and although this is only a partial jaw it is well preserved with many details of anatomy still visible. No restoration whatsoever. The black and white section of the ruler in the image represents 10 cm / 3.9 inch. Very interesting shape and a work of art in its own right!
